Warner Brother game studios have released gameplay footage for the sequel to the 2014 sleeper hit Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Titled Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, the sequel will continue the story of the Grave-Walker Talion, and his quest for vengeance against the dark lord Sauron.

The previous cinematic trailer shows Talion forging a new ring of power to rival Sauron, and promises a gigantic battle to come. The trailer also hints at the inclusion of new enemies and allies, such as the Nazgul and a Balrog. Target originally leaked the sequel, prompting WB Studios to release this trailer ahead of schedule. The cinematic trailer can be found below.

The new gameplay footage shows the new and expanded nemesis system and its enhanced tactical ability. Using randomly generated events, characters and enemies, players can now build their own army to take down the Dark lord himself. The trailer shows a late game siege of an enemy fortress, showcasing some of the new abilities Talion possesses such as the ability to teleport enemies and improved climbing.

The trailer shows the new ways the nemesis system effects gameplay, such as the ability for followers to assist Talion in battle or even betray him. These new features should make for an incredibly dynamic and unique experience for every player. The ability to mount flying creatures such as Drakes, and the option to customise Talion with new and unique armour sets also marks a first for the series.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is by far one of my favourite games. I loved it’s incredibly satisfying combat, its revolutionary Nemesis system and the gripping storyline. However, the game was not without its faults, with repetition, lackluster boss fights and limited customizability dragging it down from greatness. The sequel will reportedly feature a stronghold system and a revamping of the Nemesis system. The game will be released on August the 22nd, 2017.

So what do you think of the trailer? Are you excited to continue the story of Talion and his one-man war on Mordor? Or would you have preferred they leave this one in the past? As always, let us know in the comments and on social media!

I'm an English geek. I love comics, video games, wrestling, tv and film. So basically all the good stuff.
