Star Wars: The Last Jedi will pick up right where The Force Awakens ended, which is on a cliff on the planet Ahch-To. Those iconic last moments showed Rey tracking Luke Skywalker, who is now retired and choosing to live in exile. She presents his original lightsaber, which was lost in Empire Strikes Back when Vader cut off Skywalker’s right hand.
Actress Daisy Ridley revealed at the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Florida, “In The Last Jedi, we go deeper into Rey’s story and what is very apparent from where we left off in The Force Awakens, and where we begin with The Last Jedi, Rey has a certain expectation as to what she might be getting from Luke and what that might entail. It’s difficult when you meet your heroes, because it might not be what you expect. That’s quite a lot, right?”
The Last Jedi, along with the film that follows, will feature the late Carrie Fisher as General Leia, in one of her final performances. The film will also bring back many characters from The Force Awakens, including BB-8, Kylo Ren, Finn, Poe Dameron, Captain Phasma, Snoke and Hux.
Fans are already studying the trailer for any Easter eggs and hidden meanings, so give it a watch and let us know your thoughts! Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released on December 15th.
