Much to the pleasure of DC Comics fans, the first trailer for Krypton, the highly anticipated Syfy series Superman prequel, has finally premiered online. The footage gives us glimpses of Superman’s grandfather, founder of the house of El on planet Krypton, and as pointed out by ComicBook, may hint that the series will tie into the DCEU.

Krypton was developed by The Dark Knight trilogy’s David S. Goyer- who also wrote the pilot episode and will serve as executive producer on the series alongside Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow), who is also acting as showrunner. Colm McCarthy of Peaky Blinders fame is set to direct the pilot episode.

The Syfy series will be produced by Warner Horizon Television and is based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, published by DC Comics. Krypton is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, will follow Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

What do you think of the first trailer? Will you be checking out the Syfy prequel series? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
