Throughout history, collaborations have proven to be a magnificent thing (that Tim McGraw and Nelly song debuted at #1 on the VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown and peanut butter is STILL collaborating with jelly at a high success rate), and it seems we have another project to be excited about- this time in the horror genre. James Wan of Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring fame is teaming with Alexandre Aja, director of The Hills Have Eyes remake, to bring us Smart House (which is not a remake of the Disney Channel original movie, fyi), with Aja attached to direct and Wan serving as producer, Variety reports.

Lionsgate has acquired the rights to Smart House which is based on an original idea by James Wan. The film will be produced under his Atomic Monster company banner with head of production Michael Clear and will tell the story of a family in the witness protection program that is placed in the custody of a state of the art, autonomous smart house. When a group of assassins locates the family, the house goes into a lethal defense mode.

With Alexandre Aja having directed genre favorites High Tension and Piranha 3D in addition to The Hills Have Eyes remake and James Wan acting as the most successful horror director of the decade by far, we officially could not be more excited for this collaboration.

What do you think of the premise for Smart House? Are you excited for the two film-making powerhouses to team up? What are your favorite films directed by James Wan and Alexandre Aja? Sound off in the comments!
