It looks like the Ghostbusters franchise is not dead yet, after Ivan Reitman announced plans to make more new movies.

Reitman, who directed the original movies and produced last year’s Answer the Call reboot, has stated in a recent interview that fans should stop lamenting the death of the franchise, and prepare themselves for a complete revival.

Reitman went on to say:

“What we’ve been doing a lot of is thinking about the franchise rights for Ghostbusters. Because Ghostbusters, that idea doesn’t have to just take place in New York, it can happen over the world. I think it would be really cool to see Korean ghosts or Chinese ghosts. All those great traditions in the world have all these tales and things those people are afraid of. To have a sort of local group of Ghostbusters that tie with the head office in New York would be fun.”

He also stated that he would intend for these movies to exist within the same universe as the 1984 original and its sequel. They would acknowledge the original characters and stories, which should appease some of the fans that gave up the ghost (pun intended) after Paul Feig’s much-despised 2016 re-imagining.

So, what do you think? If we’re not getting the original crew, which actors would you like to see represent the brand in their own country, if any? Let us know in the comments section below.
