Fun fact: The Amityville Horror has been realized in film 19 times, not counting the haunted house’s cameo in last years sequel to The Conjuring. How many of those have you actually seen? Don’t worry, we haven’t seen ’em all either- nor has horror maestro Eli Roth, I wouldn’t imagine, but that hasn’t stopped the filmmaker from attaching himself to the latest project that centers around the haunted house, titled 1974.

The film, a thriller based on the true events of the Amityville tragedy in which Ronald DeFeo, Jr. shot and killed six members of his family, is being directed by Casey La Scala, the producer of Amityville: The Awakening- a film that always pops up in the news but has yet to be released. Eli Roth is attached to the thriller as a producer, with production expected to begin in September.

No word yet on the potential release date for 1974, but we’re certainly interested in seeing the story from a factual perspective. Are you a fan of the idea? How many films featuring the home have you actually seen? Share your thoughts with us in the comments and on social media!
