Leatherface FINALLY premiered a trailer, released exclusively through Bloody Disgusting, and holy hell is it intense. Check it out below, but be advised that this is a red band trailer and is quite NSFW.

A prequel to Tobe Hooper‘s classic, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Leatherface has kept fans on their toes in regard to its release- but it seems our patience has paid off after all. The above trailer is loaded with gritty violence and blood, and given the resume of the filmmakers, seems to be far greater than the last several installments of the franchise.

Vanessa Grasse stars as Lizzy, a nurse at a mental hospital who’s kidnapped by a group of violent teenagers and taken on a road trip from hell. Lili Taylor plays Verna Sawyer in the film, and Sam Coleman, Sam Strike, and James Bloor star as the potential Leatherfaces. Stephen Dorff, whose mean-mug is a highlight of the trailer, stars as a Texas Ranger who has a personal vendetta against the teen boy who grows up to become Leatherface.

The prequel is Rated R “for strong bloody violence, disturbing images, language and some sexuality/nudity.” It will be an exclusive DirecTV release on September 21, 2017, with a limited theatrical run and full VOD release through Lionsgate on October 20, 2017.
