Days removed from the heartbreaking mass shooting in Las Vegas, Netflix has reportedly postponed The Punisher premiere. This announcement comes on the heels of yesterday’s joint statement from Marvel and Netflix that the series would no longer be having a panel during New York Comic Con.

Though it’s been speculated that the series would drop in November, such a date was never confirmed by Netflix or Marvel, as they intended to surprise subscribers with the release. The Jon Bernthal-starring series is now expected to premiere later this fall (that November speculation sounds about right) in the US and Europe, and spring in New Zealand and Australia.

Given the extreme gun violence of The Punisher, this is an admirably thoughtful move by both corporations in a time of suffering for so many.
