Keanu Reeves is no stranger to science fiction. The actor has found success within the genre, with The Matrix standing as one of the sci-fi’s greats. Unfortunately, he’s had busts too (Looking at you, Johnny Mnemonic). Replicas, his latest foray into the genre, appears as though it could follow in the footsteps of his better endeavors, however, and we couldn’t be more stoked.
In the film, Reeves plays a neuroscientist named William Foster whose wife and kids are killed in a car crash. With the help of a fellow scientist (played by Thomas Middleditch of Silicon Valley and The Final Girls), Foster brings them back to life by cloning their bodies and transferring their consciousness.
Replicas was directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and in addition to Reeves and Middleditch, stars Alice Eve, Emjay Anthony, and John Ortiz. The film was shot in Puerto Rico last year, so Keanu Reeves and New York Comic Con announced during the movie’s panel that they’ve partnered to establish a fundraiser for hurricane relief. You can find the fundraiser here, and check out the trailer, which premiered at the con, below.
