If you’re an Xbox One owner, then there’s some pretty exciting news this Halloween, as Microsoft announces you can now play some of your all time favourite original Xbox titles on your modern era console.
The announcement came as part of Microsoft’s E3 2017 press conference, with talk of the next gen era Xbox being backwards compatible to allow first generation games to be playable to modern gamers. This comes as very exciting news to anyone who desired more than just Xbox 360 backward compatibility.
After keeping fans waiting for what seemed like forever, Xbox fans patience was finally rewarded with a full list of the first batch of original Xbox games that could either be purchased in the online store for $9.99 (or equivalent in other markets), or by dusting off your original Xbox disc.
So what games made the cut we here you ask? Well so far the list is as follows:
- Ninja Gaiden Black
- Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
- Fuzion Frenzy
- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
- Dead to Rights
- Grabbed by the Ghoulies
- Red Faction II
- BloodRayne 2
- The King of Fighters Neowave
- Sid Meier’s Pirates!
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Microsoft claims that due to legal implications and insurmountable technological obstacles some of the classic games will never make the jump to the Xbox One, but we have to concede that this is a pretty impressive selection, right? Especially the inclusion of perhaps the greatest Star Wars video game of all time: Knights of the Old Republic.
