Way back in 2008, The Strangers earned more than $82 million at the box office, and though it didn’t fare quite as well with critics, it has become a modern staple of the home invasion subgenre of horror. The Bryan Bertino-directed film has been the subject of sequel rumors for years, and 2017 finally got the ball rolling on the follow-up project, titled The Strangers: Prey at Night.
As someone who’s been vocal about his negative feelings toward the original film, the prospect of a sequel has done very little for me. However, the trailer (featured below) highlights several artistically crafted shots, and I have to say, if Johannes Roberts has applied that touch throughout the film, it deserves a chance from even the bitterest of hearts (me).
The Strangers: Prey at Night is being released through Aviron Pictures and will follow a family who is tortured by the masked psychopaths while staying at a secluded mobile home park for the evening. The film stars Christina Hendricks, Martin Henderson, and Bailee Madison. You can catch it in theaters in March of 2018.
