Are you local? If the answer to that question is “Yes”, then you’re probably wetting your pants at the news of a League of Gentlemen TV revival, which returns to the BBC this month. And if that wasn’t exciting enough, the beloved Beeb have also released their first teaser trailer, and it looks like the League are back to their creepy best.
If you’ve never seen the show, then we would strongly advise you to catch up with the previous 3 series before venturing back into Royston Vasey, the home of the League’s bizarre characters. If you simply don’t have the time, then you could always check out our in depth ‘Everything You Need To Know’ guide from last month.
Details on the plot for the upcoming specials have been extremely scant, with the show’s writers -Reece Shearsmith, Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton and Jeremy Dyson – keeping their cards firmly to their chests. Little over 24 hours after the trailer release though, we’ve been gifted with the complete plot synopsis for each of the 3 episodes, which you can check out below:
Episode 1: Return to Royston Vasey
In this opening episode, familiar faces return to Royston Vasey, settling old scores and digging up some old friends – with more bad blood than an abattoir with septicemia.
Episode 2: Save Royston Vasey
The fight to save the community from administrative annihilation comes from unexpected and surprising directions… all of them local.
Episode 3: Royston Vasey Mon Amour
The local authorities, the local paper and the local police all play their part, as the developing situation in Royston Vasey reaches its earth-shattering climax.
The last time we saw any of the Royston Vasey residents was back in 2005, in the poorly received League of Gentlemen Apocalypse movie. Fortunately it appears the League are back to their best in 2017, returning the action to the village of Royston Vasey, and breathing new life into old friends we thought were long dead. But what do the writers mean by earth-shattering climax? Is this a subtle hint that this is the last we will ever see of the critically acclaimed, BAFTA winning sitcom? Are we about to bid well to Royston Vasey once and for all? Whatever happens, there’s one thing you can be assured of – once you allow yourself to venture down the cobbled streets of Britain’s most bizarre locations there’s no way in Hell you’ll ever leave!
The League of Gentlemen revival will air on UK TV on BBC 2 on 18th-20th December.
