If you love Star Trek then you probably enjoyed the franchise’s triumphant return to the TV schedule last year with Star Trek: Discovery, airing on CBS All Access. If you’re chomping at the bit for the second season, you’re in for a treat as IDW Publishing has announced – via Blastr – that a comic book tie-in will be released to bridge the gap between events in the second half of season one and the upcoming season two.

For the uninitiated, or those still lost in a Scott Bakula-fueled Enterprise haze, Star Trek: Discovery is set a decade before the events of Star Trek, and is part of the same universe as the new series of movies. It was created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman, and stars The Walking Dead’s Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, and Jason Isaacs as the crew of the titular space vessel, amidst the war between the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets. Discovery was so successful on its initial release, that CBS ordered a second season one month after its September 2017 premiere.

Star Trek: Discovery – Succession will be written by journeyman Star Trek comics writer Mike Johnson, as well as one of the writers of the show Kirsten Beyer. The twosome has collaborated on Discovery comics in the recent past as well, so the expectation is high for this latest run.

The comic series will launch in April and should appear in an issue of Previews very soon.
