2017 was a big year for Don Mancini and the horror franchise that he’s helped maintain for three decades. Cult of Chucky saw the Child’s Play series at its most bizarre and fun, but more importantly, it set things up for an exciting future where anything feels possible within the realm of the franchise. Now, according to Bloody Disgusting, Mancini and collaborator David Kirschner are moving the franchise forward with a television series!

Speaking with BD, Mancini stated that the series was “deliberately set up at the end of the last movie.” Mancini also added, “We plan to use Child’s Play in the title. We want to definitely signal that we are going dark, darker than ever before. It’s going to be very creepy.”

Most importantly, perhaps, Mancini also confirmed that Brad Dourif would be returning to voice Chucky.

As Bloody Disgusting points out, this doesn’t signal the end of the film franchise- it’s just an alternate means to keeping Chucky alive. The series will feature eight, hour-long episodes, and we can’t wait to digest every second.
