Though Metallica frontman James Hetfield has appeared in film and television as himself, the sad but true fact of life is that he’s never been given the chance to flex his dramatic chops as a different character. That’s finally set to change though, as Hetfield will reportedly appear in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile, the Zac Efron-starring Ted Bundy film.
In the film, Hetfield will appear as Officer Bob Hayward, the Utah highway patrol veteran who was the first to arrest Ted Bundy in 1975 after discovering burglary tools in his car. Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile reteams the frontman with Oscar-nominated director Joe Berlinger, who co-directed the rock documentary Metallica: Some Kind of Monster.
Addressing the casting decision, Berlinger stated, “Having spent hundreds of hours behind the scenes with James and the rest of Metallica, I have experienced his charisma and powerful presence close up. It seemed only natural that he would bring that same power and magnetism to a dramatic role, so when he agreed to my pitch that he be in the movie, I was thrilled.”
Hetfield will appear alongside a dynamite cast of Zac Efron, John Malkovich, Lily Collins, Jim Parsons, Dylan Baker, Haley Joel Osment, and many more. Sleep with one eye open- Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile is shaping up to be a must-see picture.
