Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive scoop about “Scoobynatural,” the Supernatural/Scooby-Doo crossover episode airing on The CW later this month. If the pairing of shows sounds like a match made in TV heaven, wait until you hear the details. Here’s everything you can expect from the episode, according to EW.
The hour will begin with Dean Winchester wrestling a stuffed dinosaur that’s come to life. After dealing with the case-of-the-week issue, a grateful pawn shop owner offers the brothers a new television in a showing of gratitude. Sam, ever the skeptic, isn’t fond of the idea, but Dean accepts the gift anyway. The bunker’s “Dean Cave” could use a new television, after all.
The brothers soon find themselves sucked into a Scooby-Doo cartoon, and according to co-showrunner Robert Singer, two things happen:
“They say, ’We’ve been in a situation like this before with the Trickster and I think we’re supposed to play this out.’ And then they realize they’re in a Scooby-Doo cartoon, which makes Dean incredibly excited because Scooby-Doo was his favorite cartoon growing up.”
Dean’s knowledge of the cartoon will come in handy throughout the crossover, especially after finding out which Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episode that they’re trapped inside of. However familiar it may be for fans of the cartoon, though, it won’t be a repeat of the animated episode. Co-showrunner Andrew Dabb notes that there will be a “Supernatural-level monster at work,” to which Singer adds, “It gets pretty dark.”
The crossover episode airs on March 29th at 8 p.m. Eastern, only on the CW.
