Although veteran actor Nicolas Cage has taken on more roles in his film career than I could even imagine, there’s one in particular that’s always eluded him. Though Cage is a huge fan of Superman — he even named his son Kal-El after the superhero — he’s just never been able to nab the role. The closest he came was starring as the Man of Steel in Superman Lives, a planned film by Tim Burton that was ultimately shelved.

Sure, playing Ghost Rider is nice, and Cage can always say he has taken on the role of an iconic superhero. Still, there’s no doubt that the eccentric actor was bummed about missing out on becoming Clark Kent. Sometimes, however, good things come to those who wait, as Cage will finally be playing Superman in a movie.

According to USA Today, Cage has been confirmed by Cartoon Network to provide the voice of the Man of Steel for a Teen Titans Go! movie. Joining Cage will be singer Halsey as Wonder Woman and rapper Lil Yachty as Green Lantern. Kristen Bell will also be playing a film director whom the Teen Titans approach about getting their big break in Hollywood.

It’s important to note that the movie will be a theatrical release, as opposed to a made-for-TV production for Cartoon Network. Titled Teen Titans Go! to the Movies, the film is set to hit theaters on July 27, 2018.
