Insomniac Games and Sony have made some huge announcements for the highly anticipated Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4! We got updates on the release date, DLC, Collector’s Edition, Digital Deluxe edition, box cover art reveal, and more!
Spider-Man was announced as a Sony exclusive for the PlayStation 4 at E3 2016. Ever since, fans have been clamoring for any tidbit of information that they could get their hands on. All was quiet after the initial tease until last year at E3 where they revealed a pretty lengthy gameplay trailer. Once again, things went quiet until yesterday afternoon when we were introduced to the box art and the release date of September 7, 2018.
In addition to the release date, Sony also announced a pre-order bonus. If you pre-order the game, you will receive a bonus of three different Spider-Man suits. The only announced Spider-Man suit at this time is the “Spider-Punk,” suit which has him in a vest and Chucks.
The game will sell for the usual price of $59.99 with the Digital Deluxe edition set at $79.99. Included in the Digital Deluxe edition will be the game and post-launch DLC- Marvel’s Spider-Man: “The City That Never Sleeps.” There will be three new story chapters with new missions, characters, and suits. Those who pre-order the Digital Deluxe edition will also receive a limited edition Spider-Man collectible pin. This is only available to those in the US and Canada.
For those willing to go all in, the Collector’s Edition will set you back $149.99 and will be available while supplies last. That edition includes the game, the content from the Digital Deluxe edition, a steelbook case, mini artbook, and a Spider-Man statue from Gentle Giant. It is still a mystery as to what Spider-Man is perched on, so more details to come. (Any guesses?)
Insomniac said that Spider-Man will be an open world adventure game that is larger than Sunset Overdrive. You can check out some gameplay footage below from Game Informer.
