Action RPG Horizon Zero Dawn reached its one year anniversary since launch, but Guerrilla Games and Sony are celebrating a lot more than just that. It has been announced that the game has sold an astounding 7.6 million copies worldwide. This makes it the “best-selling new first-party franchise launch on PlayStation 4.”
Guerrilla’s co-founder and managing director, Hermen Hulst, had this to say:
“We had huge ambition for Horizon Zero Dawn and as we approached the launch we knew people were excited, but to see sales of this volume is truly mind blowing. Since launch, millions of players have joined Aloy on a quest to discover the secrets of the old ones. We hope they enjoy playing Horizon Zero Dawn as much as we enjoyed making it.”
Guerrilla is now saying thanks by offering some pretty cool stuff.
A bundle of Horizon Zero Dawn character avatars and theme are now available in the PlayStation Store for free. The theme has beautiful in-game screen grabs from fans using Photo Mode. They’ve also released an Inventing Instruments for Horizon Zero Dawn video featuring music supervisor Lucas van Tol as he discusses the creation of the game’s music.
There are also a couple of sales to take advantage of. Throughout March, the Modern Icons Aloy statue will be 25% off when you use the code “anniversary” at checkout. If you haven’t checked the game out yet and are interested, Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition is 35% off for PlayStation Plus subscribers and 30% off for non-subscribers. The sale goes through March 6th.
