As E3 2018 rolls on, so do the exciting gaming announcements. This time it is the turn of long-running Assassin’s Creed series to take center stage, as Ubisoft announces plans to release the latest installment in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
Players will start by choosing between the male or female protagonists, Alexios and Kassandra, who descended from the great Spartan king Leonidas I. They will then be transported back in time to 431 BCE and head to Ancient Greece as the Peloponnesian War between the Athens and Spartans rages on. With the war all around, it pretty much guarantees that players will engage in massive battles in order to sway the outcome of the war in their favor. To help in those battles, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will feature new combat mechanics, including an ability meter that will let you cash in for different abilities. Following in the footsteps of 2013’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Odyssey will take players back to sea as you build a navy crew and battle against pirate ships and enemies in the open waters.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is by no means as shocking an announcement as say, Elder Scrolls VI, simply because there are so many Assassin’s Creed games out there. And, despite a few blips, the series remains incredibly popular with fans, and there’s no doubt that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will fly off the shelves when it’s released.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is expected to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One October 5th, 2018. Check out the premiere trailer below!
